Evaluation

An evaluation is a thorough way to examine current speech-language concerns, identify strengths and needs, and provide a foundation upon which to begin therapy.  A written report will be provided, containing clinical findings and recommendations.

Teletherapy

Teletherapy is live, secure, online face-to-face video sessions. It's flexible, engaging, and can be a great alternative to in-person speech-language therapy.

I'm licensed in California, Washington and Colorado.

Clients say:

Having Sarah come into our home to work with my son was the perfect arrangement.  It was convenient for me and made Jasper more relaxed.  Sarah made all the sessions fun and different, with games, challenges, and activities, and Jasper always looked forward to them.  Jasper has one particular sound that he needed help with, which had been a longstanding problem, and over the weeks of working with Sarah he not only finally learned how to make an "r" sound, but Sarah continued to help him make it more consistent and natural.  It has been great to see Jasper’s speech improve and confidence increase while working with Sarah.

Connor’s confidence grew quickly as he began to more easily recognize and produce the sounds that were troubling him. He made great strides in terms of clarity in speech. In just six weeks, my mom, who lives out of state, remarked that his speech was clearer and more defined; he was much easier to understand during their phone chats.

Sarah made each weekly session engaging, upbeat, and fun for Connor. She provided an activity to work on each day before the next session, and these take-home pieces helped to keep me involved in his therapy in a way that was practical and manageable.

If you are seeking a speech therapist with a kind, gentle and thorough approach who can help your child to build confidence while addressing speech challenges, I highly recommend Sarah to you without hesitation!

About Me

I am a Licensed and Certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Master's Degree in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University. From my 10 years working in the field - with most of those years in public schools - I have gained invaluable experience and served a wide variety of ages, needs & backgrounds.

I opened my private practice in 2018 with the vision of serving children ages 3-18 in their home, purposefully integrating their natural environment, parent preferences and lifestyle into their therapy. I believe that therapy should be functional and make sense. Goals should be clearly communicated and attainable. The growth that kids are capable of never ceases to amaze me - and sometimes a little boost can be invaluable.

My experiences with my own two children have informed and shaped my professional practice in ways that I never could have imagined. The joy of witnessing a child's development unfold can at times be paired with worry and concern: How can I help ease her frustration in grasping this new skill? How can I help instill confidence that he'll carry throughout life? Will he be able to express his ideas so that others will understand him?

I approach my work as I do all other things important in my life - with thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and creativity. I believe that effective therapy is a mixture of evidence-based practice, professional experience, and some thinking "out of the box".
